Local Priorities

Brighter night, safer streets

Our priority within the night‑time economy is to enhance safety and reduce the risk of violence against women and girls through increased evening and night patrols, providing a visible and reassuring presence in key areas. Officers will engage with the public by handing out leaflets containing safety information and support resources, while also conducting regular licensing checks to ensure venues are meeting their responsibilities. We will continue to promote and monitor the Street Safe initiative, encouraging the community to report areas of concern so we can respond effectively. Engagement with the wider public will remain a key focus, ensuring all members of the community are aware of available safety schemes and local support. We will also work closely with licensed premises to promote the Ask Angela initiative, helping create safer spaces where anyone feeling unsafe can discreetly seek assistance from staff.
